Brandon Davis elected vice-chair after contested nomination

The Coosa County Commission's leadership election on Sept. 10 included competing nominations for vice-chair. Commissioner Bertha K. Commissioner John Forbus then nominated himself for vice-chair, prompting a show-of-hands vote on his candidacy that resulted in Forbus receiving two yes votes (Forbus and Chairman Lamar Daugherty) and three no votes (Commissioners Ronnie Joiner, Brandon Davis and Bertha K. McElrath).
After the failed vote on Forbus, Commissioner Ronnie Joiner moved to nominate Brandon Davis for vice-chair; Commissioner Bertha K. McElrath seconded that motion and it passed. Brandon Davis accepted the position and the commission recorded the election as approved during the Sept. 10 session.
