Finance staff told the Board that the town will change sewer billing from quarterly to twice a year to avoid recurring timing conflicts with the water department's billing process and to reduce postage and administrative costs.
"So now we're going to a twice a year," staff said, explaining the change avoids situations where water‑billing timing caused sewer bills to be mailed late and prevented the town from collecting interest. They added the change is expected to save "tens of thousands of dollars in postage," and staff described outreach already done in the last quarterly bill and on social media to notify residents of the new cycle.
Board members agreed the change should simplify billing and benefit ratepayers. Staff said it should also ensure interest can be consistently assessed when appropriate and that a mailed insert and social posts were used to explain the new schedule.
