Coosa County Commission unanimously approves consent agenda, authorizes payroll signatories and records multiple personnel actions

At its July 8 meeting the Coosa County Commission unanimously approved a consent agenda authorizing the chairman and administrator to sign checks for monthly expenses and payroll and accepted several personnel memos from the sheriff and county engineer documenting hires, pay changes and a termination.
The Coosa County Commission on July 8 unanimously approved a consent agenda that authorizes Chairman Lamar Daugherty and Administrator Amy Gilliland to issue and sign checks for monthly expenses and payroll.
The consent agenda also put several personnel memos on the record from the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office and the county engineer’s office. Sheriff Michael Howell told the commission in submitted memoranda that Unterio W. Butler completed his six-month probation on May 12, 2025 and is eligible to receive accrued leave; Butler’s hourly rate remains $15.73. The sheriff also reported that Timothy Ryan Brown and Leyton Moeser completed Basic Academy training and will have their pay increase from $18.08 to $18.59 per hour (Brown’s back pay was requested to the May 24–June 6, 2025 pay period). New hires noted in the memos include Tadarius Parker (hired June 9, 2025 at $18.59/hr), Dezeree Queenyania Glenn (start June 23, 2025 at $15.73/hr) and Skylynn Alexis Hammond (start June 24, 2025 at $15.73/hr).
The sheriff’s office also filed a termination memorandum for Joel Thomas Guy, who was terminated on June 13, 2025 for violations of office policies; the memo states he returned equipment and, because he remained on probation, is not entitled to leave hours. Separately, County Engineer Donald W. Eason supplied a letter indicating an employee (John Smith) will begin as an Operator 1 for the highway department on July 7, 2025 at a starting rate of $14.86 per hour.
Commissioner John Forbus moved to approve the consent agenda and Commissioner Bertha K. McElrath seconded; the motion passed unanimously by the four members present (Commissioner Ronnie Joiner was absent). The minutes show the motions and memos were recorded for the official file and later signed when the minutes were approved on August 12, 2025.
