Commissioners postpone vote on one-year Woodlot lease extension after developer offers $150,000

A proposed one-year amendment to the Plymouth County Woodlot lease — linked to a conceptual mixed-use development by Boston South Development — was discussed April 23, but the commissioners postponed any vote to allow more time for review.
Administrator Frank Basler told the board the Negotiations Committee met with Boston South Development on a plan that would place the Woodlot as the centerpiece of a main green within a larger project including a multi-sports arena for hockey and basketball, a golf entertainment complex, a 150-room play-and-stay hotel and potential residential development. Boston South asked for a one-year lease amendment and offered $150,000 for the extension. Basler said the company will use the extension to finalize project details and coordinate with the town of Plymouth.
Commissioner Gregory M. Hanley said he needed additional time to review materials and the board agreed to postpone voting on the extension until the next meeting. The board did not take further action or authorize staff to sign amendments at the April 23 session. The postponement leaves the developer’s offer and the proposed scope of the project under review and allows commissioners additional time to consider community impacts and contract terms.
