The board used its Dec. 16 meeting to recognize three community leaders for long public service.
Resolutions were read and adopted for: Robert J. Spires Jr., recognized for agricultural leadership, service on the Industrial Development Authority and support of agribusiness; Andy Jones, honored for six years on the Social Services Advisory Board and volunteer work benefiting foster youth and seniors; and Martha J. Burton, acknowledged for decades of service with the Crater Planning District Commission, regional tourism and other area institutions.
Each honoree spoke briefly. Robert Spires said, “It has been my pleasure to serve at the county level,” and Andy Jones and Martha Burton expressed thanks and reflected on volunteer work. The board adopted each resolution by roll call and took photos with the honorees.
