The Coosa County Commission adopted a resolution naming the new bridge that crosses Ray Creek on Coosa County Road 75 the "Thomas Cleveland Memorial Bridge" in honor of the late Thomas Cleveland, a lifelong Coosa County resident and World War II veteran.
The resolution, moved by Commissioner John Forbus and seconded by Vice-Chair Brandon Davis, recounts Cleveland’s wartime service, injuries in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge, and notes he received two Purple Hearts. The motion passed unanimously. The resolution instructs the county to adopt the official name and records the commission’s passage on April 8, 2025.
