The Coosa County Commission approved a resolution on May 13 to de-obligate the remaining $11,998.14 in equipment funds from Community Development Block Grant CV-NC-20-033 and authorized Chairman Lamar Daugherty to sign all closeout forms.
The resolution states the de-obligation is consistent with ADECA guidelines and notes federal/state COVID-related executive orders and policies had ended by the end of April 2025. Commissioner Ronnie Joiner moved approval, Commissioner John Forbus seconded; Commissioner Bertha K. McElrath was recorded as opposed and the motion passed. The minutes quote the resolution language that the commission "agrees to de-obligate the remaining unused funds allocated to the Equipment activity in the amount of $11,998.14."
The commission also set a public hearing for May 27, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Coosa County Courthouse for citizens to comment on the closeout of the CDBG-CV project; the notice in the packet names Elizabeth Harkert of East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission as a contact for accommodations and questions. The hearing will be published in The Coosa County News as required and an affidavit of publication will be submitted to the regional planning office.
