Sheriff Michael Howell provided five personnel memoranda that the commission received May 13 detailing staffing actions at the Coosa County Jail. The memos state Correctional Officer/Dispatcher Jamarion L. Worley was terminated effective April 3, 2025; Kaylan S. Blakely was hired effective April 21, 2025 at $15.73 per hour; James Romeo Dawson resigned effective May 5, 2025; Derrick B. Thompson was terminated April 30, 2025; and Samuel R. Ward was rehired effective May 3, 2025 at $15.73 per hour.
The memorandum language included personnel process notes such as equipment return and probation status. For example, the termination memo for Jamarion L. Worley states: "Terminated Effective immediately, on April 3, 2025, Correctional Officer Jamarion L. Worley has been terminated for violating policies and procedures of the Coosa County Sheriff's Office and Jail." The hiring memo for Kaylan S. Blakely states she "is hired as a Correctional Officer/Dispatcher" with the first date of employment and hourly rate recorded.
The records were entered into the commission packet as administrative memos and no separate public action was taken beyond receipt of the documents. The memos direct the county office to retain the memoranda in the official file.
