Coosa County Commission authorizes payroll signatories and approves personnel changes

The Coosa County Commission on May 13 authorized Chairman Lamar Daugherty and County Administrator Amy Gilliland to sign checks for monthly expenses and payroll and approved changes to employee job descriptions, salaries, work hours and status, including budget-approved raises.
Commissioner John Forbus moved to approve the consent agenda and Vice-Chair Brandon Davis seconded; the motion was recorded as unanimously approved. The minutes record the highway department hire of James Tarver, who will begin April 24, 2025, as an Operator 3, step 6, at a starting pay rate of $22.09 per hour, per a letter from County Engineer Donald W. Eason.
The vote formalized routine fiscal controls and personnel updates the commission said were already budgeted. The commission’s action placed payroll-signing authority with the chairman and administrator and affirmed several staffing changes recommended by department supervisors. The minutes state the motion was "MOTIONED BY COMMISSIONER JOHN FORBUS TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA" and show a unanimous recorded approval.
