Board extends BARIP covenants 10 years, appoints review and risk committees

The Union County Development Authority voted to extend the Covenants and Restrictions for the Blairsville Airport Regional Industrial Park (BARIP) for ten years during its May 11 meeting. Board members discussed the need to review the covenants to account for new building materials that may be available since the covenants were drafted about 20 years ago.
Chairman Rick Davenport recommended and the board appointed a Review Committee consisting of Shawna Harkins, Gavin King, Kevin Green and Ivan Walker, with Walker to serve as chair. The board also created a Risk Assessment Committee and appointed Rhonda Mahan, David Dyer and Jason Henson, with Henson named chair of that group. The board voted in favor of both the covenant extension and the committee appointments.
Board members emphasized that the extension should be reviewed by the appointed committee to ensure the covenants reflect current construction options and materials. The extension motion and committee acceptance were both seconded and recorded as carried "all in favor."
