County approves budget amendments; tax office seeks a temporary staffer

"We have 21 full time employees right now...if we had an extra person, then that would kinda fulfill some of the structural needs," said Jake Collier, administrative manager in the Tax Office, who told the court the mid‑year addition would cost about $20,000 for the remainder of the fiscal year and would help with training and coverage for an employee going on maternity leave. County staff confirmed contingency funds are available for this fiscal year but noted the permanence of the post would be decided during the regular budget cycle.
Commissioners emphasized the need to prioritize countywide budget requests and suggested the Tax Office return with the formal budget request. The court then approved a package of budget amendments by a 5–0 vote.
