The Venice City Council moved through a series of routine and substantive actions in a single session. After a unanimous consent-agenda vote, the council approved three land-use ordinances on final reading: Ordinance 2025-37 (annexation of contiguous lands), Ordinance 2025-38 (comprehensive plan future land use amendment for 2805 Curry Lane) and Ordinance 2025-39 (zoning map amendment for the same property). The council also adopted Ordinance 2026-61 (zoning map amendment at the northeast corner of Auburn and Border Road) in a quasi-judicial procedure and scheduled final reading for Ordinance 2026-11 (budget amendment) after a first-reading vote.
Separately, the council unanimously adopted Resolution 2026-03 to adopt the Sarasota County Local Mitigation Strategy, the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program project list and Venice’s floodplain management annual report. Council appointed Caitlin Panfil and Philip Ellis to the Citizen Advisory Board (terms 03/01/2026–02/28/2029) and approved a Centennial Park rededication plaque and ceremony for April 15. All recorded votes in the transcript showed unanimous approval unless noted.
