The joint public safety and corrections and finance committees voted to authorize a transfer of $67,000 from the public safety building reserve and to award a $327,000 contract to replace the jail's fire panel, the Sheriff told the committees.
The Sheriff said the project request is two parts: the transfer and the bid award. "We received 2 bids. 1 was 327,000, and the other was 3,200,000. We'd like to go with the 327,000 bid," the Sheriff said. A committee member asked why the bids differed so much; the Sheriff said the higher bid appeared to replace the entire system rather than just the fire panel. With no further questions the Chair called the vote and the motion carried.
