Mike Reasoner, Road and Bridge Foreman, updated the Vernon County Commission on multiple infrastructure operations, including bridge and culvert work and equipment needs.
Reasoner reported crews poured concrete on the bridge they are replacing on 1525 Road and are actively working on culverts across the county. He said a bridge on 725 Road (south of Yater Road and north of Zebulon Road, Sections 25 and 26 in Harrison Township) will be closed for replacement beginning Monday, Feb. 10, and that an email had been sent to interested parties. He also briefed the Commission on repairs to a culvert smashed earlier in the year by a semi truck and identified a large culvert near the state line in Coal Township that needs replacement.
Reasoner described several equipment issues: a tractor required repairs after squirrel nesting, a cutter had three faulty sensors, and crews need an oil pan for semis and tractors. The foreman said a brush pile was burned at Katy Allen Lake on Jan. 30 as part of routine maintenance.
The Commission did not record any formal motion on the operational items during the meeting; they were presented as routine updates and notices to the body. The scheduled bridge closure on Feb. 10 was the most time-sensitive item for public notice.
Next steps: the Road and Bridge office will continue repairs and will coordinate detour and notification details for the 725 Road closure.
