Planning director previews council agenda, new board appointment and possible state impacts on zoning

Roger Clark, planning and zoning director, closed the commission’s business with a few announcements: he welcomed the newly seated commissioner, said Helen Moore has joined the Historic Architectural Preservation Board, and told commissioners to expect the item to revisit commission rules and procedures at a future meeting. Clark also warned that state legislation under consideration could change planning and zoning law and that staff would monitor those bills and adapt code language as needed.
"The city attorney has been paying attention to the legislature and different legislation that's going through, and there's been some interesting bills that have moved forward…there are a couple that are going to affect planning and zoning," Clark said. He encouraged commissioners to review materials ahead of the April 7 meeting, which will include officer elections and a pending application.
