County accepts $43,000 in donations to expand animal-shelter facilities

Chief Deputy Debus thanked those donors and credited the "vision of Animal Services Director Morgan and Sheriff Mellema" for enabling the project, saying the funds will allow construction of three 24' x 30' dig-proof playpens and a private interaction area to improve adoption prospects.
Commissioner Colby Shawn moved to accept the donations "with the Court's thanks," Commissioner Danny Lambert seconded, and the motion was adopted unanimously. The court's acceptance authorizes staff to apply donor funds for the described facility improvements at the county animal shelter.
