Board certifies Aug. 5 primary after provisional-ballot review

The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners accepted four provisional ballots, rejected five and unanimously certified the abstract of the Aug. 5, 2025 primary election after canvass procedures at its Aug. 11 meeting.
Chair Myra Carlisle Frazier led the election canvass at the Aug. 11 meeting, saying the Board had been presented with nine provisional ballots from the Aug. 5, 2025 primary. The Board accepted four provisional ballots and rejected five after the Election Board of Canvass counted the accepted ballots and added them to the unofficial totals. Commissioner Cory Moates seconded the motion to accept four and reject five; the motion passed unanimously (3–0).
After the provisional-ballot decisions, the Board reviewed the unofficial totals and voted unanimously to certify the abstract of the election. No further appeals or challenges were recorded in the meeting minutes. The certification completes the county-level canvass step and incorporates the provisional-ballot adjustments into the county’s unofficial results.
