Clay County commissioners approve payroll, payables, appointments and local procurements

At their March 16 meeting the commissioners approved payroll and multiple accounts-payable items, appointed Barbara Gearhart to the North Central–Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging board, granted multiple event approvals for staff training, allowed an employee to use eight hours of vacation early, and authorized up to $4,000 for a landfill trash rake.
The Clay County Board approved routine financial and personnel items at its March 16 meeting. The minutes record approval of payroll totaling $141,399.25 and account payables of $110,271.88 for 2025 and $133,550.08 for 2026.
The Board appointed Barbara Gearhart to fill Clay County's vacancy on the North Central–Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging Board of Directors for the term Jan. 1, 2026–Dec. 31, 2027. The board also signed event approvals for County Clerk and County Treasurer staff to attend training in multiple Kansas cities, and granted Elizabeth Mendoza, Motor Vehicle Clerk, permission to use 8 hours of vacation accrued for next year. Separately, Commissioner Carlson moved and the Board approved allowing up to $4,000 for Double L to fabricate a trash rake for the Landfill to be paid from the Solid Waste Fund.
