Commissioner Thurlow said Highway Administrator Bobby Shomper should serve as the primary contact because Shomper would administer the project if the county is awarded the grant.
The board signed a support letter to accompany the asphalt road project grant application. The minutes state the grant would not be awarded until June and that the work, if funded, would be a 2027‑year project. Wietharn estimated that, across a five-month period, a vehicle or semi leaves his driveway every 12 minutes between business and farming operations, a traffic frequency he provided to support the request for road improvements.
