Highway Administrator Bobby Shomper updated the Clay County Board on March 16, 2026, saying crews bladed roads, worked on dirt projects, hauled rock, installed a culvert and replaced several bridge weight and other damaged signs. Shomper said the department moved equipment from winter storage at the fairgrounds back to the Highway Department yard and prepared trucks for possible upcoming weather.
Shomper told the board the diesel laptop software renewal was paid for $4,675 and the department purchased tool boxes, fuel tanks and pumps for the beds of new pickups totaling $4,423.12. He said Glavan Ford provided corrected invoices and that the correct amount for the two new pickups is $50,900 (the prior invoice showed $53,200).
