The Miami County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 17 approved a package of budgeted courthouse capital items for 2026 with a total cost of $345,217, which commissioners were told came in roughly $57,000 under the original budget. The list, presented by Jim Deniston of IT/10Krypto, included replacement of a virtual center whose warranty expires in April.
Deniston also presented two equipment quotes to improve public audio and accessibility in the courthouse. Commissioners approved a Sweetwater quote for $2,534.40 to supply PA speakers, back and overflow speakers, and a new mixer; installation was included. Separately, the board approved a Sweetwater quote for $2,469 for a four‑person assisted‑listening headset system that includes neck loops, individual volume controls and the required ADA placard. Commissioners approved both purchases by 3-0 votes.
The board discussed that the assisted‑listening equipment may have been required for public meetings since 2023; county staff did not provide additional documentation of the requirement in the minutes. The purchases were described by staff as already budgeted items and no additional appropriation was required.
