Residents tell council concert series and circus strain Ruston traffic, access and safety

During the public-comment period, Kimberly Anderson said the concert series and a nearby circus "place an undue burden on the City," citing litter and a person camping near her home and asking that sidewalks remain accessible. "Attendees have not been respectful," she said.
Talia Thepvongsa said she understood Parks Tacoma plans to expand the concert series to about 20 events with attendance increasing from roughly 5,000 to 9,000, and described being yelled at by a security guard while walking through an open area. Jessica Menser described spillover parking into Ruston and urged consideration of closing the offsite area to reduce impacts; she also urged speed-mitigation on 51st Street. Dawn Gossage pressed the council to address a dangerous four-way stop near the former Don's Market, saying residents have been struck and she was nearly hit.
