Sheriff Brent Clapp told the court that the Sheriff's Office purchased new portable handheld radios and proposed donating the older radios to Canadian Independent School District to provide a communications backup if the internet were to fail.
"If the internet were to go out, it could take up to five minutes for the school to communicate with the Sheriff's Office," the minutes record; Sheriff Clapp said the portable handheld radios would resolve that issue. Commissioner Dawn Webb moved to approve the donation; Commissioner Nicholas Thomas seconded and the motion carried unopposed.
