Clark County OKs $85,356 in sheriff office technology purchases, citing cruiser connectivity and network security

The Board of Clark County Commissioners on Feb. 4 authorized technology contracts for the Clark County Sheriff’s Office including 25 Toughbook computers from MNJ Technologies Direct for $70,900 and a Motorola Solutions contract for $14,455.70 to install dual firewalls for the county's ESiNet connection.
Sheriff Chris Clark described the Toughbooks as "used in the cruisers and the mobile data terminals. They are designed to connect back to the servers to communicate with the CAD system. These computers generally last four to five years." The Motorola contract covers firewall installation, remote project management, and cutover testing funded from the 911 Gov. Assist. Fund.
Both motions were moved, seconded and approved on roll calls recorded as Commissioner Lohnes, Yes; Commissioner Rittenhouse, Yes. County documents list the Toughbook purchase as funded from Permanent Improvement and the Motorola work from Fund 2204.
Officials said the purchases support operational continuity for deputies in the field and network security for emergency dispatch connectivity.
