Commissioners forgive two county loans, including $1 million to regional authority

During the Nov. 18 meeting the Tioga County commissioners unanimously acknowledged the default of a loan the county made to the Grand Canyon Airport Authority and voted to forgive the remaining $239,000 owed to the county. Separately, the board also voted to forgive a $1,000,000 loan to the Upper Tioga River Regional Authority (UTRRA), a move the minutes say is intended to help keep user rates low.
Both motions were made and seconded (recorded movers and seconders) and carried 3-0. The minutes record the dollar amounts forgiven but do not include additional details about conditions of forgiveness or downstream fiscal impacts.
