Tioga County approves $100,000 for farmland preservation, reappoints board members

The Tioga County Board of Commissioners voted Oct. 14 to approve a $100,000 funding request from the Tioga County Agricultural Land Preservation Board for 2026. Commissioners Sam VanLoon and Shane Nickerson made and seconded the motion, which passed unanimously (three ayes, no nays).
At the same meeting the commissioners reappointed P. William Plummer and Sam Wilson to three-year terms on the Farmland Preservation Board, each term to expire Oct. 21, 2028. County staff recorded that the $100,000 will be paid from the Landfill Escrow account. The actions were taken as part of a consent-style sequence of personnel and program approvals recorded in the minutes.
