Askew‑Brown said sidewalks are not amenities but safety requirements, while others argued market demand might justify wider streets without sidewalks in some subdivisions. The committee considered options for inside and outside MPC areas and how UDC rules would interact with parish code.
After discussion, Mr. Tom Salzer moved, and Mr. John Ed Jorden seconded, a motion to accept the proposed changes to Chapter 110 (specifically 110‑93 and 110‑228). Chair Keith Sutton called for a vote and the committee voted unanimously in favor; no members opposed. Dr. Ward stated that, if approved by the committee, the item will be placed on the June 17, 2026 Regular Meeting agenda for the full police jury to consider.
