Staff walked the commission through a set of UDO corrections and draft text amendments intended to harmonize the new code and address gaps. Among the items discussed were a correction to a sign-regulation typo (limited commercial vs. CR), updates to public-notice timelines to reflect recent state changes (15–45 days before quasi-judicial hearings), and an addition to Appendix C authorizing the community development director to require a boundary or foundation survey prepared by a licensed surveyor.
Staff also said the Board of Commissioners placed a moratorium effective Sept. 16 on data-center development and instructed county staff to research other jurisdictions and draft an ordinance; a draft is expected for commission review in November. Commissioners agreed staff would return redlined language and clarified that some changes address carryovers from the old ordinance rather than new policy decisions.
