Property appraisal staff asked the board to approve a joint funding agreement to update the county’s aerial photography and lidar topography. The project—carried jointly with the cities of LaGrange, Hogansville and West Point—will fly in February 2026 (and again in February 2029) and will update orthophotos and countywide lidar topography last flown in 2009.
The presenter explained funding contributions will be split by parcel counts within city limits and that the county’s portion will come from the property appraisal contract services budget approved in the county’s budget. "They will bring in anywhere from 4 to 6 airplanes to get the flight done," the presenter said. Staff said the lidar topography is a countywide special expenditure and that cities will be billed for their parcel share, with the first payment due in February and annual payments continuing for the term of the agreement. The item was placed on the evening agenda for formal action.
