The board’s committee reports detailed a strong year for forestry and a notable one‑time reimbursement. Supervisor Erickson reported 2025 stumpage closed up 26%, totaling $423,903, and that a flowage property closing resulted in a $4.1 million reimbursement to the county. Forestry operations also reported good conditions for snowmobile trails and ongoing dredging requests for Saxon Harbor.
Supervisor Wolff reported the county’s cash position improved from $5 million to $7 million, citing carbon credit receipts, stumpage sales, reduced placement costs, a land sale and interest income as contributing factors. The Finance Committee subsequently recommended—and the board approved—three measures later recorded in resolutions: purchase of the Saxon communication tower, establishment of a $250,000 Human Services reserve, and a $250,000 paydown on the Saxon Harbor loan.
