Board adopts parking ordinance updates clarifying parking stall dimensions and layout rules

Director of Engineering Ross C. Morland presented ordinance amendment OA260426 to clarify parking space dimensions and configurations used in site design and plan review. The Board held a public hearing with no public comment and adopted the ordinance by unanimous roll call vote.
The ordinance repeals and re‑enacts Section 17‑702.03 and Table 17‑702.03 (General parking space requirements) and Sub‑section 17‑702.04(A) (non‑standard parking requirements). The table establishes dimensions for standard and compact spaces by angle (parallel, 30°, 45°, 60°, perpendicular) and sets rules such as a 10‑foot setback from roads and maximum compact space percentages. The re‑enacted text also allows the Zoning Administrator limited discretion to reduce certain aisle/curb lengths under specified circumstances.
The Board adopted the ordinance effective May 27, 2026; staff will update plan review checklists and zoning documentation to reflect the new standards.
