Other residents and neighbors described losing utilities after votes by the board and ongoing litigation; one neighbor said they had paid $285,000 for a remodeled home but were denied utilities.
The magistrate repeatedly noted that disputes with the park board are private matters and not within county jurisdiction, but nonetheless found that multiple storm-damaged structures lacked utilities and were unfit for occupancy under county code. Standard compliance directives were issued (30 days to comply, $50/day fines, two-year cease-and-desist for repeat zoning violations), and the magistrate encouraged residents to work together and seek legal remedies against their association while working with county staff on code-related repairs.
