Police Jury approves personnel moves, pay adjustment and summer schedule
Summary
The Jury approved moving John Cornish to Operator at $21/hr, raised Larry Thomas's hourly pay to $35 as Certified Building Official/Inspector, and set a Monday–Thursday summer schedule (6:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.) starting May 5, 2025; each motion passed 5–1 with Jule C. Wascom dissenting.
The St. Helena Parish Police Jury approved several personnel actions at its April 8 meeting. The Jury voted 5–1 to transfer John Cornish from General Laborer to Operator at $21.00 per hour, effective immediately; Jule C. Wascom cast the sole nay. The Jury also authorized an hourly wage adjustment to $35.00 for Larry Thomas in his role as Certified Building Official/Inspector; that motion passed 5–1 as well.
Separately, the Jury approved a summer work schedule for parish employees to run Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., beginning May 5, 2025; the schedule change passed with the same 5–1 vote split. The minutes record the vote tallies for each personnel item and identify the dissenting juror but do not include written justification from the dissent.
