Jury agrees to fund MPC proposal for Comprehensive Plan and UDC update

Carlotta Askew‑Brown, executive director of the Bossier City‑Parish Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC), outlined the need to overhaul the Unified Development Code (UDC) and complete a long‑range Comprehensive Development Plan to reflect current demographics, transportation patterns and housing needs. She said the UDC adopted in 2003 contains outdated provisions affecting telecommunications, short‑term rentals and subdivision rules.
Askew‑Brown told jurors the cost is split one‑third each among the MPC, Bossier City Council and the Bossier Parish Police Jury, and noted letters of support from the school board, Barksdale AFB and the chamber of commerce. On motion by Philip Rodgers and second by Pam Glorioso, the jury accepted the MPC proposal and a resolution authorizing execution of documents was adopted unanimously.
