Shelly Horton of the Haughton Metropolitan Planning Commission and Amy Barton of ARVAD Ministries (d/b/a House of Grace) presented a conditional use request for a group living facility located off U.S. Highway 80.
Barton described the House of Grace program, saying it "serves young women between the ages of 18 – 24 years of age who were in foster care until the day before their 18th birthday," providing onsite supervision, life‑skills training, work readiness and educational supports without accepting government funding. She said the facility currently serves up to six residents and that any future buildings or expansion would return to MPC and the police jury for review and approval. Glenn Benton commended the program and moved approval; Julianna Parks seconded. The jury approved the conditional use and adopted Ordinance No. 5115 unanimously.
The ordinance describes the tract and grants conditional use approval for a group living facility at 6167 Highway 80 in Police Jury District 2. The MPC record and letters of support from local institutions were referenced during the presentation.
