Troup County honors employees for decades of service

Troup County commissioners opened Tuesday's work session by recognizing county employees with milestone service awards across departments.
Human Resources representative (speaker 6) presented the Richard English Jr. Strongest Link Award for August to detention detail officer D'Shanique Critivan and announced a slate of 5-, 10-, 15-, 20- and 30-year honorees from departments including the sheriff's office, fire department, transit, the property appraisal office and parks and recreation. "You have proven that you are the strongest link," the presenter said when announcing the award recipient. The chair later tallied the total service represented by those employees at about 385 years to the county.
Why it matters: the recognition highlighted continuity and institutional knowledge across Troup County departments and provided public acknowledgment of long-serving staff ahead of the board's substantive agenda items.
The board then moved to regular business after the awards presentation.
