The presentation outlined three referral methods, a CANS-first sequencing that assigns a tier level, and a protocol by which care coordinators generally begin outreach within one to two days after assignment.
Stephan Cooke and Lydia Wolfe identified the program's care managers (Kaitlin Colley, Emily Caudill and Allison Gutierrez) and explained that, if a family lacks Medicaid, they still can be referred and have a CANS completed; waivered youth without private insurance may be eligible when a CANS score is 2 or 3. When asked about flex funds, presenters said, "they are allotted $1,500 per year" on enrollment to cover items tied to the child's care plan, but approval is context-specific and Aetna will review requests individually.
Aetna staff also described that the first ICA (Initial Care Assessment) is completed at enrollment and a 30-day care meeting follows for moderate-to-intensive cases. Council members asked questions about approval variability across individual requests; presenters said approval decisions are child-specific.
