Council members press for infrastructure fixes and transparency on legal fees

During member reports at the April 1 meeting, Councilman Todd Poche asked that the public be informed about the amount of legal fees the parish is paying to attorneys handling lawsuits with Rise St. James and other groups. Poche also reminded the public that April 18 is Clean Up Litter Day in St. James Parish.
Separately, Councilman Neal Poche challenged the Levee Board and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to address the Convent ramp. He also noted a leaning power pole on Grand Point Road. Councilman Donald Nash reported residents were still smelling gas in parts of the parish; Operations Director Rick Webre said staff would investigate and that Lime Street and Harry Town Street are included in the spring repair program. Webre also said he would check the status of Becnel Lane.
