Board approves administrative edits and grants 60-day temporary salary adjustment for employee performing HR duties
Summary
The Personnel Board approved administration-proposed edits in globo, except for one item involving William McCartney, and granted a 60-day temporary salary adjustment for Mr. McCartney while Administration considers creating a formal position; the adjustment passed 4–1 and will be revisited May 20, 2026.
At its March 18 meeting the St. Bernard Parish Personnel Board reviewed "Edits and Initializations" submitted by Administration and approved the package largely in globo while reserving one item for separate handling. On motion of Mr. Timothy P. Doody, the board voted to approve all edits in globo except the Edit involving Mr. William McCartney.
The board then voted to approve a temporary salary adjustment for Mr. McCartney for a period of 60 days while Administration evaluates whether the extra duties justify creating a formal position. Mr. John B. White, Executive Counsel to the Parish President, asked that the board approve the temporary measure to allow the work to continue while Administration reviews the longer-term solution. Mr. Doody recommended that a new position be advertised to allow other employees to apply; Chairman George Imbraguglio said he agreed additional employees might be interested.
The vote to approve the 60-day temporary salary adjustment carried 4–1 with Chairman Imbraguglio recorded as the lone vote against the adjustment. The board directed that the item be revisited at the May 20, 2026 Personnel Board meeting to review any action taken by the Administration. No salary amounts were listed in the minutes.
