City staff presented a proposed resolution authorizing the City Administrator (or designee) to pursue FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) pre‑applications and applications for FY2026 and FY2027 projects at the Chowchilla Municipal Airport and to accept FAA and Caltrans Aeronautics matching grants.
Council Member Waseem Ahmed moved and Council Member John Chavez seconded a motion to table the item and return it with additional information requested by Ahmed. The motion to table passed; Mayor Kelly Smith recorded a 'no' on the motion and Mayor Pro Tem Ray Barragan and Council Member Jeff Troost were absent. Council did not vote on the underlying authorization; staff will return with the requested clarifications before the council considers authorization to execute AIP grant documents.
The staff report listed the airport projects as those shown in the Airport Capital Improvement Plan; the proposed resolution would have allowed execution of all implicated documentation for FAA AIP grants for FY2026–2027 and acceptance of Caltrans Aeronautics matching funds. Council asked staff for further detail before taking final action.
