Chowchilla council adopts 2025 Water Shortage Contingency Plan

The Chowchilla City Council voted July 14 to adopt the city’s 2025 Water Shortage Contingency Plan and to submit it to the California Department of Water Resources.
Mayor Kelly Smith opened and closed the public hearing at 4:31 p.m. with no members of the public addressing the item. Council Member Waseem Ahmed moved to adopt the plan; Council Member John Chavez seconded. The motion passed with Mayor Pro Tem Ray Barragan and Council Member Jeff Troost absent. The council recorded the action as Resolution No. 47‑26.
City staff will transmit the adopted contingency plan to the Department of Water Resources in accordance with California Water Code reporting requirements. The adopted plan spells out staged responses to water shortages; at the July 14 meeting staff did not receive public input on the proposed stages.
