North Kingstown QDC representatives report lease swaps and Electric Boat expansions

Weitman said the board approved a lease‑swap that moved a seven‑acre parcel at Camp Thomas Way to Ocean State Drive and added 10.3 acres for Electric Boat. QDC also approved an additional 43.2 acres on Davisville Road to support two new buildings—one roughly 374,000 square feet and another about 168,000—projects Electric Boat will fund and manage. Weitman said Electric Boat expects to hire additional staff tied to the expansion.
The board also authorized enrollment of a Tiverton wastewater district site into a state program and approved up to $200,000 for technical assistance. Maiele described his effort to balance duties to the QDC board with advocacy for North Kingstown residents and said he will continue reporting back to the council after each QDC meeting.
Weitman noted public attendance at the QDC meeting (about 175 people) and said future QDC board materials will be summarized for the town and made available to the public to increase transparency.
