County and Riverscreen owner agree on tentative road funding split, County to pay engineering fees

County officials stressed safety and economic development as priorities for the road; engineering and all specifications must meet Kansas Department of Transportation standards. Commissioner Mayo moved to go into executive session under the Confidential Data exception for 20 minutes to discuss contract negotiations; the session began at 8:52 a.m. and the board resumed at 9:12 a.m. with no action taken during the session. The Board asked that, once a grant is awarded to the County, Mr. Wietharn provide a $350,000 check before construction begins and instructed that the County Attorney draft the contract between Clay County and Mr. Wietharn.
