Second, the council voted to authorize the town manager to research hiring experienced environmental legal counsel (private or nonprofit) to advise the town on potential interventions, permitting challenges and litigation strategies. The town manager was directed to report back with options.
Council member Matt McCoy—who told the meeting he had voted against the QDC action in November—accepted responsibility for not keeping fellow councilors fully informed and announced his resignation as the town's appointed representative on the Quonset Development Corporation board. The council said it will appoint a replacement.
