The Road Committee of the Police Jury of Winn Parish convened Feb. 18, 2025 at the Parish Courthouse; Chairman Phillip Evans called the meeting to order at 5:48 p.m. Committee members Frank McLaren and Stanley Garrett were present; additional jurors in attendance included Kyle Potts, Deionne Carpenter, Darrell Franks and Author Robinson. The committee adopted the agenda on a motion by Frank McLaren, seconded by Stanley Garrett, with a recorded vote of 3 yeas and 0 nays.
The committee’s stated business was to discuss road department procedures with Road Superintendent Perry Holmes and Assistant Road Superintendent Paul Hodnett. Topics raised included cutting grass around bridges prior to State inspections, identifying a more effective herbicide, cleaning the county road list (including clarifying which roads are not maintained by the Jury), culvert procedures and potential staffing additions. The meeting was declared adjourned by Chairman Evans at 6:23 p.m. on a motion by Author Robinson and second by Deionne Carpenter; the minutes do not record a roll-call tally for the adjournment motion.
