County seeks $36,000 in SPLOST 5 funds to upgrade E911 center monitors, flooring and headsets

County staff requested authorization to use up to $36,000 in SPLOST 5 equipment funds to upgrade the E911 center’s technology and work environment.
"What this will cover is monitor upgrades, flooring replacement, replacing some of the dispatcher chairs, replacing their refrigerator, as well as the headsets that they use in there," a staff representative explained. Staff said several monitors and TVs have already required one-off replacements and that current headset equipment is no longer manufactured, prompting a wholesale replacement.
Staff displayed floor finish samples and discussed options that would be easier to maintain, and Shannon (an E911 staff member) described the floor conditions and why one sample was preferred for ease of cleaning. The requested funds would also buy docking stations for mobile command Toughbooks and other monitors used in the center.
The item was added to the evening agenda for formal consideration.
