County to apply for $3,946 grant to place 45 Stop the Bleed kits across facilities

Zach (county staff) briefed the board on a Georgia Trauma Commission grant opportunity to provide Stop the Bleed kits for county facilities and vehicles.
"Grant, for, $3,946.05. Covers 45 stop the bleed kits," Zach said, explaining the kits would be placed where AEDs are located and in county vehicles and that Wellstar Western's trauma manager will provide training for lay users at no charge. He said the grant requires a minimum of 10 trainees to be eligible but that the training is a one‑time requirement for the grant.
Commissioners asked whether facility staff would be trained and where kits would be placed; Zach confirmed kits will be distributed to high‑occupancy locations, public safety vehicles and county facilities. The board approved submitting the grant application.
