Troup County to pursue GEMA hazard mitigation grant to replace 27 sirens

Troup County staff said the county will seek a GEMA hazard mitigation grant to replace existing outdoor warning sirens and add two additional locations. "There would be 27 total siren replacements in the unincorporated parts of the county as well as some of the cities," Glenn told the board while explaining the project and the Sept. 30 application deadline.
Staff said they intend to coordinate with municipalities to secure matching funds and obtain additional quotes (for example, Motorola or other vendors) before finalizing the application. The board voted by voice to give staff permission to apply.
