Board adopts election, vacancy and superintendent contract bylaws; conflict-of-interest policy approved

The board adopted multiple governance framework items Sept. 12, including Board Bylaw 9220 and Exhibit E (Governing Board Elections), Bylaw 9223 (Filling Vacancies), and Board Policy 2121 concerning the superintendent's contract. The board also adopted Board Bylaw 9270 on conflict of interest and approved Resolution No. 2025-02 in the same motion.
Trustees held first readings on a set of employment-related policies and administrative regulations: BP/AR 4030 (Nondiscrimination in Employment), BP 4033 (Lactation Accommodation), sexual harassment policies (4119.11/4219.11/4319.11) and Title IX complaint procedures (4119.12/4219.12/4319.12). Those items will return for adoption in subsequent meetings after the required second readings. The board recorded the motions as carried unanimously 5-0 where votes were taken.
Board Clerk Jim Bennett and other trustees emphasized procedural review and public notice; no substantive changes to the policies were adopted at first reading beyond direction to return with final adoption.
