Program Specialists Janette Ridgels and Alejandra Garcia reported to the Board that 72 students attended the district's Extended School Year (ESY) summer program to receive continued IEP services and targeted reading and writing interventions. Ridgels said the theme was the "Summer Olympics," which integrated sports activities to engage students in learning.
Alejandra Garcia told trustees that attendance was strong over the summer. Member Ron Kasper commented that the program is important for students, underscoring the Board's focus on continuity of services during the break. The report was presented after the pledge of allegiance during the Aug. 8 meeting.
